The doors of the Rutgers Alumni House at Van Nest Hall are open to you no matter where you earned your Rutgers degree. It’s a place for all Rutgers alumni to relax, socialize, network, and reminisce. The second instructional building to be constructed at Rutgers, Van Nest Hall was erected in 1845 and named for Abraham Van Nest, a New York City merchant and devoted trustee of Rutgers College. Over the decades the structure has served a wide range of academic and administrative purposes.
Respectful renovation has retained the building’s historic character, and Van Nest Hall still holds its time-honored place of prominence in New Brunswick’s College Avenue neighborhood.

The Rutgers Alumni House at Van Nest Hall enables you to take part in more programs and events than ever before. Professional staff members support Rutgers alumni from offices located in Van Nest Hall and are available to help you as soon as you enter. Comfortable sitting areas are ideal for meeting up with friends and reminiscing over a cup of coffee.
The alumni house is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. The first floor of the building is wheelchair accessible. If you need help in planning your visit to the alumni house, please email rualumni@rutgersfoundation.org.

Because the work of alumni groups is so vital to strengthening Rutgers, the RUAA has made it a priority to provide high-quality meeting and reception areas. Your efforts make an impact and your group deserves the right environment for organizing and decision-making.
Reservable spaces include two conference rooms on the first floor; Board Room and Revolutionary Room as well as the Parlour. You can reserve event space for your Rutgers-affiliated group or chartered organization for events by emailing reservealumnihouse@rutgersfoundation.org.
Upon request, a screen, projector, podium and microphone are available in the conference rooms. The Alumni House Manager will consider evening and weekend reservation requests on a case-by-case basis.

The Rutgers Alumni House at Van Nest Hall is located next to Winants Hall and Geology Hall on the College Avenue campus at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. This campus map will help you plan your visit.
Reasonably-priced parking is available in the Gateway and Little Albany Street garages a short walk from the alumni house. Garage entrances are found on Somerset Street, Little Albany Street, and Wall Street. Metered parking spaces are located on College Avenue and Somerset Street.

Designed to welcome you and make your campus visit comfortable, the Rutgers University—Camden Alumni House is your home away from home. It’s a place to reunite with friends, former classmates, and professors. It’s a place to build stronger ties with the university.

Built in 1809 by the wealthy iron merchant Edward Smith, this two-and-a-half-story, Federal-style building is one of the oldest structures in Camden’s Cooper Street Historic District. It has served a wide range of purposes over the years. From the 1950s until 2007, it housed the Camden branch of the Red Cross.
Thanks to a careful renovation, visitors can still enjoy many of the building’s original features, including fireplaces, mantels, wood trim and molding, and a decorative wood staircase.

Are you looking for a group setting that’s warm, friendly, and distinctive? It’s easy to reserve event space at the alumni house. If you represent a Rutgers alumni group or chartered organization, please email alumni@camden.rutgers.edu and be sure to include the dates you want to reserve. If you’re with a non-Rutgers group, please write to reserve@camden.rutgers.edu.
Reservable spaces include a first-floor conference room, library, and entrance hall. Upon request, a screen, projector, podium, and microphone are available in the conference room. Alumni house staff will consider evening and weekend meeting requests on a case-by-case basis.

Reasonably-priced parking is available in the Camden County College deck at Broadway and Cooper Street, a short three-block walk from the alumni house. The garage entrance is accessible from Sixth and Penn Streets. Bring your parking ticket stub and pay in the lobby in order to exit the parking deck.

Rutgers University–Newark has a rich history of students and alumni taking action on impactful social issues. The Rutgers University–Newark Alumni Center was created to support the contributions being made by alumni and enhance their presence in the community at large. It is a place to reunite with friends, former classmates, and professors to engage in critical conversations about issues that are important to the university community and the city of Newark.

Located near the Newark Museum in the city’s historic James Street Commons neighborhood, this beautifully refurbished 19th-century building was designed by William Halsey Wood, an architect much-admired for churches and homes in the region. Joseph Fewsmith, a surgeon and long-time Newark resident, was the first occupant.
The Alumni Center is among many James Street Commons buildings that have been preserved and given new life, conveying a rich cultural heritage. Its revival is a powerful example of Rutgers–Newark’s deepening connection to alumni and to the greater Newark community.

Rutgers–Newark graduates and visitors should feel empowered to participate in conversations that affect alumni, the university community, and the city. Designed to support you in whatever ways you find meaningful, the Alumni Center enables you to take part in a growing number of programs, from Community Engagement Day to lunch-and-learns with faculty. Professional staff members are located within the center to assist you, answer your questions, and facilitate your discussions.
Free Wi-Fi, coffee, and a water cooler are available, along with comfortable areas for relaxing and reminiscing. The building is wheelchair accessible.
