About Dr. Mirabal

Dr. Mirabal is the author of Suspect Freedoms: The Racial and Sexual Politics of Cubanidad in New York, 1823–1957, a groundbreaking exploration of Cuban racial and sexual politics in New York during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Her scholarship brings together oral history, spatial politics, and archival studies, with a focus on gentrification, displacement, and Latinx spatial-temporalities.

She is also co-editor of Keywords in Latina/o Studies and Technofuturos: Critical Interventions in Latina/o Studies. Dr. Mirabal serves on the board of Teaching for Change and the Advisory Board of the Center for Global Migration Studies.
