Barbara J. Krumsiek

Barbara J. Krumsiek is president and CEO of the Calvert Group, a mutual fund firm known for its socially and environmentally responsible investments. One of the few female CEOs in the mutual fund industry, Krumsiek is responsible for Calvert’s billions worth of investments spread across dozens of mutual funds. Her career in the financial industry includes serving as senior vice president and managing director for the mutual fund division of Alliance Capital Management, where she was responsible for $17 billion in assets. Washingtonian magazine named Krumsiek one of the 100 most powerful women in the Washington, D.C., area. In 2001, the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund named her one of 25 leading women in business in the United States, and the Women’s Business Center of Washington named her Outstanding CEO of the Year. In 2002, she was named to a United Nations initiative to promote responsible corporate citizenship within the international business community. Krumsiek is also a member of the Douglass Society.
