J. Mark Baiada

Having founded BAYADA Home Health Care in 1975, J. Mark Baiada has spent the past four decades championing the company’s mission to help people have a safe home life with comfort, independence, and dignity. Supporting him are BAYADA’s growing corps of 18,000 home health care employees, who now work out of 290 offices in 22 states.

An advocate for improving patient outcomes, Baiada is a leader in providing clinical simulation training to home health care professionals and in encouraging nurses to use technology to advance the profession. He is also a well-known philanthropist, serving for nearly 35 years as the sole sponsor of the BAYADA Regatta—a competitive rowing event for athletes with disabilities—and joining relief efforts to aid people injured in Hurricane Katrina, the Indian Ocean tsunami, and the Kosovo War.

In recognition of his entrepreneurial and humanitarian work, Baiada has been honored as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Philadelphia region and as a Visionary Leader by the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Nursing. In May 2014, he received an honorary degree from Drexel University. Additional recognitions include the Heroes of Hope award from the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of The ALS Association; the VNA Caring Award from the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia; the Richard J. Hughes Humanitarian Award from Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton; and the Kaleidoscope Award for Community Service from the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter. The National Association for Home Care and Hospice inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2012 and, in 2007, the Philadelphia Eagles listed him among the “75 Greatest Living Philadelphians.”

Baiada has been engaged with many organizations and boards, including the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations’ Home Care Advisory Board, Loyola University in Maryland, University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing’s Board of Overseers, Drexel University College of Medicine, University of the Arts Parents Council, and Rutgers University–Camden’s Executive Advisory Council. In 2012, he inspired graduating seniors as the commencement speaker for the Rutgers School of Business–Camden.

Previously a market researcher with Avon Products and the American Thread Company, Baiada holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Rutgers College, a master’s degree from Rutgers Business School–Newark and New Brunswick, and honorary doctoral degrees from Neumann University and Drexel University.
