Julane W. Miller-Armbrister

Providing primary medical care to the uninsured and underinsured has been a hallmark of Julane W. Miller-Armbrister’s career. After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Rutgers, she worked as a program manager and social work specialist for Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfi eld. In 1985, she became president and CEO of the Plainfi eld Health Center. During her tenure, she was the guiding force behind the construction of the center’s 34,000-square-foot facility; she raised millions in grant support for the center and led a capital campaign that raised $7 million. Today, the center provides comprehensive medical, dental, and ancillary support services to more than 21,000 patients annually. In 2005, Miller-Armbrister became a senior policy analyst at UMDNJ, and since 2006, she has been vice president of government affairs. She also has been an adjunct professor at Rutgers’ School of Social Work and at Kean University. In 1999, she was appointed to the Governor’s Task Force on Affordability and Accessibility of Health Care in New Jersey. She has also served on numerous other boards and committees.
