Rutgers alumni, friends, and family have bonded this fall in Off Banks events in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and elsewhere prior to Scarlet Knights football and men’s basketball games. Upcoming festivities include the Rate Bowl in Phoenix on December 26 and the Knights in New York men's basketball game at Madison Square Garden on January 25.

From around the country and around the corner, Rutgers alumni have been turning out for Off the Banks events celebrating the Scarlet Knights.

In late November, alumni and football and men’s basketball season ticket holders Mary and Dave Conover traveled from their home in Pine Beach, New Jersey, to Las Vegas to attend the Off the Banks party at the MGM Grand and see men’s basketball compete in the Players Era Festival against Notre Dame, Alabama, and Texas A&M.

“Rutgers is just such a part of our life,” said Dave, a graduate of the Rutgers School of Engineering.

The Conovers’ Vegas trip included more than just basketball games and pregame parties. They leapt from an airplane over the desert, their first time skydiving.

They had hoped to unfurl a Rutgers flag for an aerial photo, but that was deemed unsafe.

“Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us hold the Rutgers flag, but we made sure we had our block R showing!” said Mary, who holds an MBA from the Rutgers Business School.

Attend the Bowl Game Event or a Watch Party

For the Scarlet Knights appearance in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix on the day after Christmas, Off the Banks will be held in a tailgate tent near the main entrance of Chase Field. Registration required here

If you can’t make the game, look here to find a Rutgers alumni game-watching party.

On January 25, another Off the Banks tailgate will be held in Manhattan prior to the men’s basketball game against Michigan State in Madison Square Garden. Registration is required.
