Robert N. Pinsky

Robert Pinsky is one of America’s most accomplished poets. For decades, his poems have appeared in such magazines as The New Yorker and The New Republic. He is widely anthologized and has received dozens of prestigious citations, including awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. From 1997–2000, he was U.S. Poet Laureate and Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress. He founded the Favorite Poem Project at Boston University, which has produced anthologies, including America’s Favorite Poems, Poems to Read, and Invitation to Poetry, as well as a documentary series about Americans and the poems they love. Since 1988, he has been a professor of English at Boston University. His first book of verse, Sadness and Happiness, was published in 1975, when he was 35 years old. Several volumes of poetry have followed, including The Figured Wheel, which received the 2007 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize and was a Pulitzer Prize nominee.
