Ronald W. Giaconia

Ronald W. Giaconia built a stellar career in the insurance industry, and his community service work is equally remarkable. Giaconia worked for Prudential Insurance Company before starting his own group life and health insurance brokerage agency. He is the retired president of Giaconia Life Associates, Inc. and was one of five charter members elected into the Hall of Fame of the Bankers Security Life Insurance Company. Born and raised in Passaic, Giaconia rejuvenated the Passaic Boys’ Club as its president in the late 1980s. His efforts earned him the Silver Keystone award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. In the early 1970s, he was chair of the City of Passaic Redevelopment Agency, president of the Passaic Chamber of Commerce, and chair of the Passaic Valley Sewage Commission. At Rutgers, he and his wife created the Ron and Toni Giaconia Endowed Scholarship for baseball players. Giaconia is also an emeritus member of the university’s Board of Trustees and former vice chair of the Board of Governors. He served as chair of the Scarlet R Executive Advisory Committee from 1987–96. He received a Meritorious Service Award in 1993 from the Rutgers University Alumni Federation and was inducted as a Loyal Son of Rutgers in 1988 by the Rutgers Alumni Association.
