Ruth Ann M. Burns

Ruth Ann Burns started her career as the youngest female war correspondent in Vietnam. She became vice president and director of Thirteen/WNET's Educational Resources Center in New York, the nation's flagship public television station. There she helped her division grow into a nationally recognized educational technology business and created an educational production unit, the Kravis Multimedia Education Center. She also developed the National Teacher Training Institute for Math, Science, and Technology, which helps more than 500,000 teachers around the country integrate video and the internet into classroom teaching. From 1984–88, she directed the broadcast center at WNET and was responsible for local public television station activities. Under her leadership, two Emmy award-winning public affairs series were launched: Innovation and Currents. She was president of the Burns Group, a digital education and telecommunications group, working with e-learning initiatives, and marketing and public affairs for universities, foundations, and corporations. She is currently vice president for marketing and external affairs at Georgian Court University.
